Abstract - Fjallstein & Magnussen 1996:
Two self-sustainable strains of Atlantic cod are in the faroes waters; one on the Faroe Plateau and one on Faroe Bank. The Faroe Bank is about 80 n. miles SW of the Faroe. Estimation of growth for cod in the two strains have shown that the growth for the Faroe Bank strain is significantly higher than for the Faroe Plateau strain. Broodfishes from both stocks were used in the spawning season in 1992 and 1994 and a comparative growth experiment with 0-group cod started in September the same year. Results from the 1992 experiment and the first 8 month of the 1994 experiment are presented in this paper.
